Accountant
Job Overview:
As a DiRoots Accountant, you will oversee our internal financial framework, general ledger, and day-to-day accounting operations. You will ensure full regulatory compliance while managing transactional flows across our digital platforms, keeping our growing international operations moving smoothly.

Location: Guimarães (Portugal) or Hybrid.
Responsibilities:
- Account Ownership: Review, validate, and officially sign off on financial statements and tax declarations.
- Daily Accounting: Manage general and analytical accounting workflows, ensuring all digital and standard transactions are accurately recorded.
- Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit all monthly and annual statutory tax returns (VAT/IVA, IRC, IRS, Modelos 10/22, IES, etc.) in full compliance with Portuguese legislation.
- Reconciliation: Oversee and reconcile digital payment flows, multi-currency invoicing, and subscription models.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow statements, and balance sheet reconciliations to assist business strategy.
- Payroll & Filings: Oversee or coordinate monthly payroll processes and related social security (Segurança Social) submissions.
Must-have:
- Active registration with the OCC (Ordem dos Contabilistas Certificados) with the legal capacity to sign company accounts in Portugal.
- Solid background and experience in accounting frameworks (SNC) and Portuguese tax legislation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial reporting, data analysis, and reconciliation models.
- An eye for great organization and a good understanding of modern financial workflows.
- Be proactive in suggesting internal workflow improvements and reporting optimizations.
- Fluency in Portuguese and professional proficiency in English.
Not mandatory, but a plus:
- Moloni accounting software.
- Stripe payment gateway management and transaction reconciliation.
- Experience handling accounts for technology, SaaS, or digital platform businesses.
- At least 3 years of experience in corporate accounting or financial operations management.
